Mr. Shepherd got his start working alongside his brothers and father in the family egg-laying business. From there, he built a hard-cooked egg operation — commercially cooking, peeling, and packaging hardboiled eggs for sandwich makers, salad makers, and restaurant chains across the region.

That business grew into a full-service provider of prepared food products — and eventually became Shepherd Foods. Driven by a vision to grow into a larger, more diverse industry, we took the company into mass-produced freeze-dried food, built specifically for B2B partners. Today, Shepherd Foods supplies hundreds of thousands of pounds of superior-quality freeze-dried food products to businesses across America.
